Refueling for a Rebirth

Refueling for a Rebirth

What have you been up to for the last 5 months?!

Hey Team Justice (what I would like to affectionately call you now)!

If you’re new to our community here, welcome, so lovely to have you! And of course lots of appreciation and a big hug too if you’ve been following for some time. I’m so grateful for our connection. It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me…like a looooong while. Over 5 months to be exact, so, you might be wondering…what have I been up to during this time?

Although I ended 2013 envisioning that I would jumpstart 2014 with a redesigned website and leading an amazing group of women through the  via the Berkeley Book Club, only one of those actually happened. One for two isn’t bad. While the later had a bigger impact than I imagined (stay tuned for more about this soon), the redesigned website became a bigger project than I had wanted to admit or accept at the time. I’m happy to report that progress has been made on this front, and I will be revealing the new site on or before the 2nd Anniversary of Jillybeads 4 Justice first going live (Tuesday, June 9th)!

Across my various roles—educational researcher, part-time MBA/MA in Educational Leadership student, justicepreneur, wife, daughter, sister, and friend—one theme has remained constant. I’ve been thinking a lot about impact. So much so that I’ve been paralyzed by endless, sometimes competing and conflicting thoughts: What’s my desired impact? What changes do I want to see in the world? How does my work make a positive impact?

It’s no secret that I strive to make a difference in the world. In fact, it’s part of the Jillybeads 4 Justice tagline—“Making a Difference, One Bead at a Time.” Although I’m not quite ready to reveal what my months of visioning and thoughtful action will mean for myself personally or professionally or Jillybeads 4 Justice, I will share that I’m thrilled, ready, and looking forward to consistently being in touch with you bi-monthly on first and third Wednesday of the month (and maybe a bit more if it feels relevant)!!

I plan to continue sharing my reflections on our culture and society through the lens of social justice, as well as at the intersection of education, business, and sport. In addition, I will be mixing in motivational quotes, photo fun, interviews, inspiring stories, website and apps supporting action you already take along with prompts to explore what matters most to you. Plus, much more…

I’m excited for this new journey and delighted you will be joining me!

In loving solidarity,

~ Jillian
